The Small Things Make Life Better
Francis Kong's new book sheds light on what matters

Inspirational speaker Francis Kong follows up his book “Leadership That Matters” with another piece from ABS-CBN Publishing, entitled “All That Matters: Live. Love. Learn. Laugh”. In his new book, Kong elaborates that the small things in life – family, character, leadership, business, work, and self-improvement – is what leads oneself to success happiness.

“We are constantly motivated with the big picture of success, but we should also pay attention to the small details, because big things happen only when we do the small things right,” writes Kong.

Kong relates living life to reading a map, “Going through the process of traveling the road may be full of humps, lumps, and bumps,” the 63-year old says, “But in the process, you can also begin to pick up skills, experience, and toughness that will enable you to travel farther and achieve things better.”

In his book, Kong mentions that communication is key factor for family and children-related matters, especially with social media as a prevailing hindrance. “Social media has made it possible for us to communicate and relate with people who are far away from us, but isolate and alienate us from the people beside us. Develop communication skills and don’t let [your children] waste away on their phones.”

Bouncing from his previous book, Kong also touches on leadership, making a distinction between motivation and inspiration. While the former pushes people to do something, the latter “pulls people to the realization that a change or a transformation would be good for them.”

On happiness, Kong suggests to keep away from ‘whiners’. “If we cannot help and the whiner refused to be helped, then we simply must maintain distance and not allow negativity to poison our healthy minds,” says Kong.

In promoting his book, he says that “Life is 90 percent beautiful with only 10 percent that is not. And there is so much out there to be positive about.”
