The second half of the duo behind the popular local stationary shop Papemelroti, Bienvenido “Benny” Alejandro, passed away at the age of 92 as confirmed by the shop’s official Instagram account yesterday, May 15. His wife and co-founder Corit died last 2014.

Bienvenido and Corit established Korben Gifts (a merge of their names) in October 1967 in Alimall, Cubao; but in the summer of 1976 changed it into Papemelroti – the merged names of the couple’s five children, Patsy, Peggy, Meldy, Robert, and Tina.

One of the children, Patsy, took to Facebook to express her love and farewell for her dear father: “You were always my champion when I needed one. You took care of us in many practical ways that we sometimes took for granted.”

“You were a faithful, loving husband, a wonderful father, and a fun lolo! We rejoice in the hope that we will all be together one day!”

According to Paterno’s post, the wake will take place at Loyola Commonwealth.
