Prepare to laugh yourself silly when King Arthur returns to the Philippines in search of the Holy Grail for the encore run of Monty Python’s Spamalot from April 13 – 22, 2018 at the Globe Auditorium, Maybank Performing Arts Theater at the BGC Arts Center.
Based on the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the award-winning musical comedy brings back last year’s talented cast, including multi-awarded actor/singers Rachel Alejandro, Carla Guevara-Laforteza, and Lorenz Martinez.
It will again be directed by Joel Trinidad and Nicky Triviño, both of whom were nominated by Broadway World for Best Direction for the previous production.
Spamalot tells the exploits and (mis)adventures of King Arthur as he recruits his Knights of the Round Table to follow him to his fabled castle, Camelot.
The original 2005 Broadway production won three Tony Awards and received 14 Tony Award nominations. The initial run was seen by more than two million people and raked in over $175 million. Described as “cheerfully deranged” by The Manila Bulletin, the local version will run for a limited time and comes complete with cheerleaders, projectile cows, and vicious killer rabbits.
Featuring exclusive gowns designed by Francis Libiran, Spamalot will play a 10-show run on Fridays (9 p.m.) Saturdays (3 and 8 p.m.), and Sundays (3 and 8 p.m.).
The musical’s return was made possible by BGC in cooperation with McCafe, Don Papa Rum, and Reserve Gastro Tavern, together with Coca-Cola FEMSA Philippines, Heineken, Travel Life Magazine, Ralph’s Wines and Spirits, yuneoh.com, wheninmanila.com, Manilascope, Citrusnap, Manila Mash, PSST.ph, Francis Libiran, Jaypee Maristaza Photography, Lynelle House of Hair Fashion, Makeup Specialist, and Hair and Makeup by Osec.
Other cast members are Noel Rayos, Bibo Reyes, Dean Rosen, George Schulze, and Chino Veguillas. Musical Direction is by Onyl Torres with choreography by the Martinez Sisters. Get your tickets now at TicketWorld at 891-9999 or Upstart at 0917-8116156.
