Jollibee Opens 3rd Store in Canada

Canada is known for smoked bacon, beaver tails, lobster, and poutine. But if you’re hungry for something Filipino like Chickenjoy or Peach Mango Pie, don’t worry. You can easily satisfy your unique craving on the east coast where Jollibee recently opened its third store.

Located in the Greater Toronto Area, the new store at 15 William Kitchen Road is the place where Filipinos and locals can savor the popular fast food chain’s distinctive offerings. Jollibee Scarborough is the 40th store in North America where you can order Jolly Crispy Chicken (called Chickenjoy here), Jollibee Spaghetti, and Palabok Fiesta, among other langhap-sarap treats.

No less than Jollibee was there to welcome hundreds of Filipinos who camped in the area hours before the grand opening. Its first customer, Paul, looked forward to enjoying chicken there for the first time in six years.

Happy Moments

“For us, nothing brings greater joy than to bring people together over great-tasting food and happy moments. We are excited to bring to Scarborough the popular dishes that many now enjoy in different parts of the world,” said Jose Miñana, Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC) group president for North America.

Scarborough is home to an estimated 50,000 plus Filipinos and is one of the most popular destinations for new immigrants.  The Greater Toronto Area is the most populous metropolitan area in Canada with around 200,000 Filipinos residents.

Familiar Taste

“We look forward to bringing the familiar ‘taste of home’ to our countrymen in the Greater Toronto Area.  Many may not know that this area is home to the largest Filipino community in Canada. And we won’t stop here – another location in Mississauga is in the pipeline for the year,” revealed Beth Dela Cruz, Jollibee North America vice president and general manager.

JFC is currently the largest Asian food service company, operating in 16 markets, with over 3,800 stores globally, of which 1,272 are brand stores. The company’s aggressive expansion plan in North America is part of its overarching goal to be among the top five restaurant brands globally.
