Good news for relatives of seafarers! The Duty Free Philippine Corporation (DFPC), the company in charge of Duty Free Fiestamall in Paranaque City have announced that seafarers can avail of a 5% discount. Among the products covered by the discount include chocolates, liquor, wines, and cigarettes.

DFPC’s Chief Operating Officer Vicente Pelagio Angala said that 18 manning agencies have been accredited and “are working aggressively to add more” so that programs like the Seafarer Shopping Privilege Program (which employed the discount) can be functioned.

“This program will make shopping more affordable so they could bring home more gifts to their loved ones,” says Angala, “This is our way of honoring the thousands of seafarers who make the sacrifice to leave their families behind.”

Seafarers can shop 15 days until after their arrival, all they have to do is claim their discount slip from their agency (if accredited) and present it together with seaman’s book at the Customer Registration Counter. Happy shopping!
