Exceptional finds in one concept store

Notable for their use of recycled and reclaimed materials, Emeco's colorful “Emeco 111” chairs are made of recycled PET plastic bottles and was made in collaboration with Coca-Cola.

Xception, a home, design, and lifestyle retail store, officially launched its concept store at the bustling Legaspi Village in Makati.

The store curates top-notch global brands that champion function and art in all of their products.

“We just want to elevate all things home, design, and lifestyle, but most especially the Filipinos’ appreciation for it,” the Xception team tells The Good Life. “We want to show form and function in a new light.”

Coffee lovers can also enjoy hand-crafted coffee drinks—iced or hot—while looking around for their home and style needs. The store also features a specific area perfect for exhibits, product launch, cocktails, press events, product demos, and more.

The launch also coincided with the unveiling of Xception’s collaboration with world-class muralist and sculptor, Kris Abrigo. He utilized colorful toilet papers from the brand Renova to create an installation that will welcome every shopper that enters the store.

“For the concept, basically, I just wanted to utilize the colors of [Renova] because that’s my signature [look]. My style is really colorful. Since the items here are for interior design, I thought of creating an interior setup. Though that didn’t happen because instead of plants, I had to do sculptural. The panels are from my painting, like the angles and colors. Since it’s installation, i also explored using new material with my girlfriend’s brother who does woodwork. That’s why you’ll see a lot of wood elements,”

Meanwhile, Renee Sebastian — the first Certified Tea Master in the Philippines — demonstrated simple yet refreshing tea drinks for all occasions, using some of the kitchenware from UK brand, Rory Dobner. The drinks are as follows: Fresh lemon balm and mint tea, a hot cup of refreshing and soothing tea; Plantation iced tea, a Hawaiian tropical style iced tea; and Earl grey martini, a tea infused gin.
