Boyz II Men Brings Out the Romantic In All Of Us
The R&B Group Filled the Night with Songs of Love

It was like Christmas and New Year were rolled into one when Nathan Morris, Shawn Stockman, and Wanya Morris delivered an amazing concert at the Araneta Coliseum on December 15.

Though former member Michael McCary left a few years back due to personal issues, the three remaining members have pressed on, producing songs and albums which have touched the hearts of many fans.

The award-winning R&B group sang their familiar hits like “I’ll Make Love,” “4 Seasons of Loneliness,” “On Bended Knee,” and “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye,” with Shawn encouraging the audience to sing along.

“That’s right, Manila! Sing as loud as you can! Let’s have a great time tonight!” the 46-year-old singer called out.

The audience readily complied as they sang along to one of their favorites “On Bended Knee.”

Roses for the Ladies

The night was made more special and memorable for the ladies when Nathan, Shawn, and Wanya appeared onstage with roses in hand while singing “I’ll Make Love To You,” one of their signature songs.

The women went slightly crazy as they swarmed in front of the stage trying to get one long stem as the guys started handing out roses.

It’s been four years since the group held a concert in Manila so it was quite a treat for everyone to witness this impressive performance from Boyz II Men, who were also  invited to perform back in 2016 for the Miss Universe coronation night.

Singing with the Divas

Boyz II Men graciously shared the stage with the newly-formed Divas: KZ Tandingan, Kyla, Yeng Constantino, and Angeline Quinto. And for the first half of the show, these ladies wowed the crowd with their powerful voices.

The ladies eventually shared the stage with Boyz II Men for a powerhouse performance, combining their voices into one unique blend of smooth and sassy tunes as they first sang Journey’s “Open Arms.” Nathan introduced the classic song to the crowd: “We’ve got a nice song. We know you know it because you’re musical people. It’s not a Boyz II Men song. It’s not a Divas song. It’s a song that I’m sure you guys love and we love it as well. Take a listen. We’re gonna see if you can make it happen for you guys.”

Their second number with the ladies was “One Sweet Day,” resonated so beautifully to the crowd and with the Divas as minutes before this performance, Nathan shared the sweetest news to the crowd.

“I will tell you this. Since we’re doing things different up here tonight, I guess today’s thing is doing something different. So just in case you want something different, we were actually, just three, we’re talking about maybe do an album, tour or something, one day [with the Divas].”

As statements go, this one definitely made the whole Araneta Coliseum crowd stand up and clap. And yet the feeling was bittersweet for the fans, as Boyz II Men sang their last song for the night, knowing that it will be some time before they witness this kind of class act.
